G'day
I have been using Steam successfully on Gentoo for months... I ran into issues a while back but fixed it by starting steam with STEAM_RUNTIME=1 steam
which worked fine... until now... a steam update came through the other day I noticed and now it no longer runs... here is the error
kaddy@genbox ~ $ STEAM_RUNTIME=1 steam
Running Steam on gentoo 64-bit
STEAM_RUNTIME is enabled by the user
Installing breakpad exception handler for appid(steam)/version(1378500910_client)

any ideas?

its the beta client, screwed up. so remove the troublesome files and revert to the normal. MAKE sure you disable beta as well _________________

Naib you Legend... deleting the appcache folder fixed the problem... I thought that perhaps
the new steam updates borked it and would require an updated ebuild since it was complaining about
dbus (which was running) etc.... Solved
