|
|
I now for some years have always used universal usb istaller to put the iso images on usb stick. And it always worked perfect.
The last time I imaged was in February with the then latest amd64 iso.
I needed a x86 install so downloaded new iso's 20130528 and imaged them.
Now on booting I get:
SYSLINUX 4.06 CHS 2012-10-23 Copyright (C) 1994-2012 H. Peter Anvin et al
ERROR: No configuration file found
No DEFAULT or UI configuration directive found!
boot:
And that's that. I get stuck.
I tried both x86 and AMD64 and also an older iso 20130423 I found I even got the newest usb installer, but all the same.
Unluckely I threw away my old isos , so I can't compare.
Can anybody help me, I don't know syslinux. But if anybody can point me to an iso from the start of this year, I probably can find the difference.

hika,
Use SystemRescueCD and follow its instructions to make it boot from a USB stick.
It will even give you a GUI while you install Gentoo. _________________ Regards,

Thanks, am downloading now.
But I'm still wondering what changed with the isos since beginning this year.
Does the rescue cd not give problems with chrooting. I noticed in the passed I can not chroot to a amd64 installation when I started with a x86 cd. Won't recognize the 64 bit bash on the installation.
If I find out more I'll post it here.

hika,
SystemRescueCD provides both a 64 bt and 32 bit kernel. You cannot chroot into a 64 bit install when you are running a 32 bit kernel but the other way round works.
When you start SystemRescueCD, take care to choose the right 32bit or 64bit kernel. _________________ Regards,

OK with the rescuecd I got the same, so I tried another machine and that works like a charm.
I guess the bios is fucking up. I'm going to try other usb ports, but I think I have to burn a CD. Shit.
