When I wanted to emerge gnome-applets, it showed things as follows:
Code:

And here's the output of emerge --info '=gnome-base/gnome-applets-3.6.0-r1::gentoo':

Code:
gweather-pref.c:32:38: fatal error: libgweather/gweather-xml.h: No such file or directory

How to fix it? I have no idea since I don't use gnome. You could take this to bugs.gentoo.org and see if they can help out get to the bottom of it.

Given that there's '-I/usr/include/libgweather-3.0' within the compiler flags, unless the layout of that lib's headers changed significantly, most likely the version of libgweather installed is not in sync with gnome-applets-3.6.0-r1.

So.. what should I do now? Report a bug?

I've learned that gnome-panel-3.6.2-r1 does have some problems, so I mask it and emerge gnome-panel again, but emake failed still... This time the error is:
Code:
panel-run-dialog.c:45:50: fatal error: libgnome-desktop/gnome-desktop-utils.h: No such file or directory

Please help...

That is the Point, there is no File... /usr/include/libgweather-3.0/libgweather/gweather-xml.h

Code:
$ ls /usr/include/libgweather-3.0/libgweather/
gweather-enums.h       gweather-location.h  location-entry.h
gweather-enum-types.h  gweather-timezone.h  timezone-menu.h
gweather.h             gweather-weather.h

My "local" database say there is a file, but actually that entry is from the past. I build gnome-applets:

Code:
[I] gnome-base/gnome-applets
     Available versions:  2.32.1.1-r1 2.32.1.1-r2 (~)3.6.0-r1 {{+cpufreq gnome gstreamer ipv6 networkmanager policykit python_single_target_python2_6 python_single_target_python2_7 python_targets_python2_6 python_targets_python2_7}}
     Installed versions:  3.6.0-r1(13:18:57 09.08.2013)(gnome ipv6 policykit python_single_target_python2_7 python_targets_python2_7 -networkmanager -python_single_target_python2_6 -python_targets_python2_6)
     Homepage:            http://www.gnome.org/
     Description:         Applets for the GNOME Desktop and Panel

I don't know which package did the miss.

Code:
$ equery b /usr/include/libgweather-3.0/libgweather/gweather-xml.h
 * Searching for /usr/include/libgweather-3.0/libgweather/gweather-xml.h ...
user@system ~ $

Ah ok equery works with files but not with a deprecated one, thought it has a database with file names that equiry compres.
Maybe it helps to Mask libgweather-3.8.2 and emerge libgweather-3.8.1 instead. Ill give it a try...

...did not work. The file is not from there. I suppose that gnome-applets needs libgweather-3.6.x and other applications need a higher libgweather because libgweather-3.6.x is deprecated, since it is a lib to parse actual web-services and on some places the emerge progress test these services. I am not sure which package it was.

I use a complete unstable gnome-3.x branch.

Code:
 emerge -1 dev-libs/libgweather
Calculating dependencies... done!
[ebuild     UD ] net-libs/libsoup-2.38.1 [2.42.2]
[ebuild  N     ] net-libs/libsoup-gnome-2.38.1  USE="introspection -debug"
[ebuild     UD~] dev-libs/libgweather-3.6.2 [3.8.1]
[blocks B      ] >=net-libs/libsoup-2.42 (">=net-libs/libsoup-2.42" is blocking net-libs/libsoup-gnome-2.38.1)

!!! Multiple package instances within a single package slot have been pulled
!!! into the dependency graph, resulting in a slot conflict:

net-libs/libsoup:2.4

  (net-libs/libsoup-2.42.2::gentoo, installed) pulled in by
    >=net-libs/libsoup-2.42.1:2.4 required by (www-client/epiphany-3.8.2::gentoo, installed)
    (and 7 more with the same problem)

  (net-libs/libsoup-2.38.1::gentoo, ebuild scheduled for merge) pulled in by
    ~net-libs/libsoup-2.38.1[introspection?] required by (net-libs/libsoup-gnome-2.38.1::gentoo, ebuild scheduled for merge)

dev-libs/libgweather:2

  (dev-libs/libgweather-3.8.1::gentoo, installed) pulled in by
    >=dev-libs/libgweather-3.5.1:2/3-3= required by (gnome-base/gnome-panel-3.6.2-r1::gentoo, installed)
    (and 2 more with the same problem)

Oh seems to be the damn libsoup! There was a splitting of libsoup and libsoup-gnome before 2.38.1 and 2.40.3. I have mask =net-libs/libsoup-gnome-2.40.3 to emerge the higher packages, and that is the fault why so much is broken.

If someone knew how to handle this right, feels like a ship to navigate around the iceberg.

Know there is a solution to got gnome-3.8 compiling because i have, but remember that i often recompile and mask some packages to got it run. I need a Compile-Diary!
