|
|
Hi all,
At work there has just been a cycle of upgrades, so I have received a new desktop PC and I'd like my present desktop PC to become my file server as it's far better than my present file server.
So, the question I have is how to best migrate from a x86 to amd64 architecture. I suppose part of it all would be to copy the contents of /home and some shared directories, but what is the easiest way to get everything else onto the new PC?
Best,
Alex |

evoweiss,
There is no 32 bit to 64 bit upgrade path. Salvage your /home, /etc to refer to and your world file.
Do a new install, referring to you /etc put the world file in place and do to build a 64 bit version of your world.
Its not quite that easy ... but you know your way around. _________________ Regards,

those that do backups
those that have never had a hard drive fail. |

I thought that might be the case, but was just checking in case there was something I was missing.
Thanks!
