You enabled the 'bindist' use flag which disables the Firefox branding. firefox-17.0.7 is the most recent stable version for amd64 and x86. If you want a more resent version you need to use the testing version. _________________ First things first, but not necessarily in that order.
Apologies if I take a while to respond. I'm currently working on the dematerialization circuit for my blue box. |

17 - is the current ESR relase http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/organizations/faq/
Basically it means that you've got all the security patches from the latest Firefox, but no new security holes from the features introduced in post esr releases.
For example Tor Browser Bundle is based on Firefox 17 esr. |

i like my security holes. firefox 23 is the default on my system.
i did it by
Code: |
echo "www-client/firefox-bin" >> /etc/portage/package.accept_keywords
emerge -av firefox-bin
|
and mozilla tells me good job on downloading or compiling the latest firefox. and then half my plugins are broke.
i have x on my server, its a home server, not like a battle hardened data center virtual machine image. |

Thanks guys gonna try enabling not-so-safe build and use it, not that version 17 is blocking anything for me (apart from collusion) |
