Hi all,
So this is my first foray with Gentoo, and I chose to try the LiveCD first (I can already feel a few people cringing ). I have an external, usb CDROM drive that I'm attempting to boot the LiveCD from, and it is unable to find the root block device. This isn't a new problem, with a few posts and bits from as far back as 2005 on the forums here. None of the previously proposed solutions are working however. Are there any suggestions on flags to boot the LiveCD that may help the detection? Thanks for the help . |

dnewkirk,
Welcome to Gentoo.
You can use any liveCD you wish to install Gentoo, as long as it provides a 64 bit kernel if you want a 64 bit install.
The boot media only provides a few tools. None of its code goes into your install.
System Rescue CD is a good place to start and its easy to put onto a USB stick. _________________ Regards,
