Hi,

I tried to virtualization my Windows 7 through virtualbox. (If you can read German and are interested:http://wiki.ubuntuusers.de/Dualboot-Windows_virtualisieren)

Unfortunately I allways get the error: NS_ERROR_FAILURE (0x80004005) and after some browsing through the web I found that I have to start /etc/init.d/vboxdrv. But it is missing. Some people say that you have to write

Code:

modules="vboxdrv vboxnetflt vboxnetadp vboxvideo"

in /etc/conf.d/modules but that also doesn't change a thing. So I tried reemerging and included virtualbox-additions and virtualbox-modules as well als virtualbox-extpack-oracle but the problem still persists. I there isn't a /etc/init.d/vboxdrv.

Code:
find / -name "vboxdrv"
/dev/vboxdrv
/sys/bus/platform/drivers/vboxdrv
/sys/devices/virtual/misc/vboxdrv
/sys/class/misc/vboxdrv
/sys/module/vboxdrv

is all there is to vboxdrv. So my question is how do I get vboxdrv if necessary and if not how do I get rid of NS_ERROR_FAILURE.

Greetings

Hi,

lsmod says:
Quote:

Module Size Used by

vboxnetflt 14930 0
vboxdrv 1777583 2 vboxnetadp,vboxnetflt
nvidia 9381609 40

while emerge --info tells me:

I do not have an /etc/init.d/vboxdrv and my virtualbox/win7pro64 works just fine.
your modules look ok.

If I try to start it as a normal user I'll get a window as soon as it trys to start which says
Code:

Fehlercode:
NS_ERROR_FAILURE (0x80004005)
Komponente:
Medium
Interface:
IMedium {53f9cc0c-e0fd-40a5-a404-a7a5272082cd}

if I try to start VirtualBox as superuser it crashes as soon as I have to select a medium with the error massage in the command prompt:
Code:

klauncher(3235) kdemain: No DBUS session-bus found. Check if you have started the DBUS server.
kdeinit4: Communication error with launcher. Exiting!
Speicherzugriffsfehler

while dbus says:
Code:

/etc/init.d/dbus status
 * status: started

In regarding to the superuser problem I have read that it is quite common and that it wouldn't disturbe the normal processes.
