|
|
Hello,
I've been trying to get Gentoo to find my wireless network, but I seem to be having problems.
I have an Intel® Centrino® Advanced-N 6230 network card, so from this I have managed to work out that I need to use the "modprobe iwlwifi" command.
However, my network was still not being detected, so from what I have gathered, I need to install the relevant firmware, which I found at this link: http://wireless.kernel.org/en/users/Drivers/iwlwifi
However, despite extensive searching, I have been unable to find a way to put this onto the live CD. My problem is that I cannot download the firmware from inside Linux as this would require internet, and I can't seem to find a way to transfer it from Windows.
I have seen that genkernel would be helpful in doing this, but when I enter "emerge genkernel", I get an error message telling me that emerge is not a recognised command.
If anyone could help me with this problem, I would be extremely appreciative.
Thank you for reading |

Use a system rescue cd instead. http://www.sysresccd.org/Download A fully funtional equivalent, gentoo based, with much better hardware support especially for wifi. boot to the xfce GUI and find network manager icon lower right of the desktop. _________________ Defund the FCC. |
