hi all,
i'm on an arm device and i want to install the android sdk.
because all binaries java sdk are only for x86/x86_64 i have to compile it for arm.
but i can't!

Code:

TF201 max # emerge -av1 jdk

These are the packages that would be merged, in order:

i tried to disable the jbootstrap use flag but the output is the same.
here you are the emerge --info:

sorry for the quick post but i have a lesson now.
thanks in advance for your help.

there is another option - though I have never used it. use the java compiler provided by the gcc package (enable gcj useflag).

It is possible by enabling USE="gcj" and then emerging gcj-jdk.

On my Raspberry Pi, icedtea-6 would not build, but icedtea-7 did with gcj-jdk.

Can you please make a short guide on how you got icedtea on your raspberry?
I can't emerge gcj-jdk i just wants icedtea.

The steps were the following:
  1. set USE="gcj" in make.conf
  2. emerge gcj-jdk (on stable systems, you may need to put some things like ecj-gcj or eselect-java in package.accept_keywords first)
  3. emerge virtual/jdk:1.5 (I think that's optional)
  4. emerge icedtea:7
Note that the build takes more memory than the RPi has, so fast swap is necessary (zram or fast USB storage, not on SD card).
