In test 15 there appears to be a stack trace so I assume it is crashing, could you report that stack trace and a short description of the problem at https://bugs.gentoo.org?

Could this be the reason?

No, the stack trace is different as it outputs the message and aborts in another function chain. But seems they report a fix that might be worth verifying:

Quote:
Please replace open_cache with table_open_cache in ~/.local/share/akonadi/mysql.conf.

Exactly that comment was the reason I posted the link ;)
If it helps maybe it could be good to place the info in a sticky thread, because I saw this issue several times - without a solution.

I do not have open_cache in ~/.local/share/akonadi/mysql.conf.
:(

And I think those post above is about 5.6 version, but in Gentoo we have 5.5.32

After registering, you can follow the steps at https://bugs.gentoo.org/enter_bug.cgi?product=Gentoo%20Linux&format=guided to report a bug; don't worry if you do something wrong, we check the bug before forwarding it to the maintainers.

Many thanks for the answer.

Before posting a bug, I would like with your help to fix it.

Let sumarize:
1. Today morning kmail was working fine.
2. Later I did emerge -uDN world, emerge --depclean, revdep-rebuild.
3. After this reboot (I think) kmail stopped work (so I am not sure if this problem is conected to Gentoo or Akonadi).

So maybe one of last time updated packages or maybe emerge --depclean did something.
Bellow is list last 3 days updates by genlop -lu, I do not know how to find those packages remowed last time by emerge --depclean. I think revdep-rebuild was clean for 99%.

There is no solution as long as the problem is not understood, for which the stack trace needs to be investigated; the maintainers and developers can do this for you, unless you really want to debug this at a lower level yourself which requires some programming knowledge (what the stack is, what a stack trace is, how to read a stack trace, how the program works internally, what the program is doing, ...).

Ok, thank you for the answer. I did as you said:
https://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=474964

hopefully someone will fix it as I have no mail program and all my mails now :(

this is trivial but if you run akonadictl status and akonadictl start
in a terminal, what is the output?

I have found this:
http://forum.kde.org/viewtopic.php?f=60&t=96623&hilit=akonadi+registered

and the developer says:
Quote:
This indicates two things:
1) Your Qt build was done without MySQL support built in.
2) Some form of permissions is preventing MySQL from writing to it's database files.

The database files are usually at ~/.local/share/akonadi/db_data/ (where ~ is /Users/jsisney on your system)

If you want to remove your entire Akonadi configuration, remove the following:
~/.local/share/akonadi/
~/.config/akonadi/
~/.kde4/share/config/akonadi*

1) What QT does he mean?
2) Do you think if will remove all configuration above^^ will it be safe for my database?

Don't rely on errors that look like yours but are not the same.

Quote:
QSqlDatabase: available drivers: QSQLITE QSQLITE3 QMYSQL3 QMYSQL

This is from your error and indicates that it does support MySQL in your case.

Quote:
ASSERT: "database.driver()->hasFeature( QSqlDriver::LastInsertId )" in file /mnt/video/tmp/portage/app-office/akonadi-server-1.9.2/work/akonadi-1.9.2/server/src/storage/dbconfigmysql.cpp, line 158

This is the assert that fails and is listed above the stack trace (I spotted it just now), what this denotes is that there is an incompatibilty between MySQL and Akonadi Server, the assert says a certain SQL specific feature is missing. A temporary fix might be to downgrade MySQL and rebuild QtCore and Akonadi Server (such that they are build against the downgraded MySQL), I think you didn't do the rebuild and therefore didn't see the fix. There might be a slight chance that it is in a non downgradable state, as sometimes a database is upgraded with new features that disallows older versions from using it.

If you do decide to remove anything, back it up instead so you can roll back.

I was trying Toady everything, even downgrading mysql to previous and previous stable version:
Quote:
Thu Jun 27 12:20:28 2013 <<< dev-db/mysql-5.1.67
Thu Jun 27 12:20:33 2013 >>> dev-db/mysql-5.5.32
Thu Jun 27 12:20:39 2013 <<< virtual/mysql-5.1
Thu Jun 27 12:20:41 2013 >>> virtual/mysql-5.5

but... I did not rebuild after that QtCore and Akonadi Server, so I will try now again, form the newest mysql version an will let you know.

I did downgrade mysql to 5.5.31 and reemerged QtCore and Akonadi Server - still problem.
I did the same for mysql to 5.5.32 and reemerged QtCore and Akonadi Server - the same.

I did remove entire Akonadi configuration, but did not help.
~/.local/share/akonadi/
~/.config/akonadi/
~/.kde4/share/config/akonadi*

Looks like there is a problem with mysql. Many thanks for help.

Another Gentoo Developer responded on your bug, see https://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=474964#c1. Sounds like you could disable Akonadi temporarily as a workaround.

I did try 5.5.31, 5.5.32 so I will try maybe any older 5.5.30.

Back to this error:
Quote:

/mnt/video/tmp/portage/
^^ This is a place of temporary emerge files. Why akonadi is trying to use temporaryfiles during start?

Back to this error:
Quote:

I have bolded 158 line:
Quote:
void DbConfigMysql::apply( QSqlDatabase &database )
{
if ( !mDatabaseName.isEmpty() )
database.setDatabaseName( mDatabaseName );
if ( !mHostName.isEmpty() )
database.setHostName( mHostName );
if ( !mUserName.isEmpty() )
database.setUserName( mUserName );
if ( !mPassword.isEmpty() )
database.setPassword( mPassword );

database.setConnectOptions( mConnectionOptions );

// can we check that during init() already?
Q_ASSERT( database.driver()->hasFeature( QSqlDriver::LastInsertId ) );
}

or maybe this is a clue?

Some clue from Today:
Quote:
It looks you have another MySQL instance running and accessing the Akonadi database. Is there a specific reason why you configured it to use the system MySQL?

Same problem here with mariadb (dev-db/mariadb-5.5.31).

These packages have been updated yesterday:
Code:
     Thu Jun 27 13:40:16 2013 <<< media-libs/libogg-1.3.0
     Thu Jun 27 13:40:19 2013 >>> media-libs/libogg-1.3.1
     Thu Jun 27 13:40:41 2013 <<< media-libs/xvid-1.3.2
     Thu Jun 27 13:40:43 2013 >>> media-libs/xvid-1.3.2-r1

No, the stack trace is different as it outputs the message and aborts in another function chain. But seems they report a fix that might be worth verifying:

Please replace open_cache with table_open_cache in ~/.local/share/akonadi/mysql.conf.

I do not have open_cache in ~/.local/share/akonadi/mysql.conf.

OK, I just read the original bug report (the one the linked one was marked as DUP of), and I saw the short comment of the dev contained a (fatal) error:
Not open_cache should be replaced, but table_cache - that variable is actually inside you config file.
So, in short:
replace table_cache with table_open_cache in the mentioned mysql.conf

Everything works fine! May thanks!!!!!

So the sollution is:
Quote:
Rename table_cache to table_open_cache

table_cache is deprecated since MySQL 5.1.3 (released in Nov. 2005) and was completely removed in MySQL >= 5.6
