I have a simple Database with one field containing dates like 18.11.2011.
The date is stored as 18.11.2011
Making a report the date is displayed as 40865.
What is going wrong?
Old databases display the reports correct. Making a new report even in an old database makes a 40865-like number again instead a formatted date.
Is that a new bug?
can somebody reproduce it?

using app-office/libreoffice-3.4.3.2-r1 and dev-db/hsqldb-1.8.1.2-r1

Thanks for any help.

Manually change the format in the editor is a solution. But the report-generator has a bug. Windows-Libreoffice does this all fine.
My question still remains:

Am I alone or are there enough to open a bug?

The solution is to right-click on the report name in the database console and choose "Edit". Then right-click on the cell which should display the date, choose "Number format" from the resulting drop-down, then choose "Date" from the resulting number format dialog.

Thank you, thats right (and should be mentioned here, so thanks for your post)
It worked before without manual adjusting (and seems to be fixed, tested with libreoffice 3.6.6)

It appears to be back with 4.0, on Kubuntu 12.04, anyway. It was searching for the solution that I found your original posts. It was the only such posting I found, so when I worked out the solution I figured I'd add it to the thread. The key is that reports are Writer documents and subject to its formatting. Apparently, in some cases the report generator simply fails to pass the formatting information to Writer.

4.0 again? I hope this is just a (missing/added) distro-patch :-(
Anyway, you are right.
