That's what I see when running `ss -p | grep mate`:
Code: |
tcp ESTAB 0 0 <my IP>:51567 77.67.29.137:http users:(("mate-panel",18131,19))
tcp ESTAB 0 0 <my IP>:51564 77.67.29.137:http users:(("mate-panel",18131,16))
tcp ESTAB 0 0 <my IP>:36133 77.67.29.186:http users:(("mate-panel",18131,20))
tcp ESTAB 0 0 <my IP>:36134 77.67.29.186:http users:(("mate-panel",18131,17))

What it means? Is it hacked or what's the reason it establishes connections to these hosts? |

afaik it is a one of Akamai Technologies servers. Used by IT companies to distribute (including) updates. One of their clients is M$ Update Center.
So may be it is just an update request/check.
The thing is why your panel checks for updates without informing you? |

This is very disappointing - modern open source software behaves just like badly written proprietary ms windows software - goes on the internet for updates w/o even asking the user. What's next!!! |
