Hello,
I've been trying to set up a Gentoo Linux VM, because I need a distro for my operating systems class and I chose Gentoo to try it out.
I've managed to get Gnome running and all, but now I have a slight problem. The system boots up fine, starts gdm, then I can log in. But Gnome seems to freeze when I use it "more intensively", like quickly minimizing, maximizing and closing windows.
Then I found a "solution" somewhere on the Internet, to boot the kernel with notsc, so I did and the problem wasn't solved.
I've installed VMware Tools (though HGFS failed to compile and install). I've also added it to rc-update and rebooted the system afterwards.
Gnome unfreezes after some time (about 10 minutes I believe).
I can go back to Debian or something but I like Gentoo so far and would like to find a solution. Please help
Thanks |

Booting the kernel with clocksource=acpi_pm flag seems to have solved the problem. I'll try using it for a few days and then report if the problem has really been solved |
