I have seen this as well, just put it down to the 4OD website being buggy and didn't try anymore. It would be interesting if someone has some ideas though.

Same problem here, I've ended up using the 4od channels on youtube but they don't update that as often.

Yep all the programmes I want are not on there yet .

Looks like this is gonig to be a vmware job or through wine .
Defeats the whole purpose.
Surely there is away to fix this on Gentoo.

And for many Ubuntu users u can use install hal and the problem is solved.

Any idea why 40d uses hal anyways its nothing to do with videos is it ???

Done a bit more digging on this one, basically flash needs HAL to show DRM-protected videos. And Adobe have no plans to change that. There is a similar topic here: Amazon Instant Video and hal which explains how to install hal from an overlay.

Interesting, I wonder how the likes of BBC Iplayer and ITV player work, as far as I know they both use flash?

As for BBC iPlayer it doesn't use DRM unless you download the programmes with iPlayer Desktop, but that's only available for Windows and Macs, no idea about the ITV one.

This has been going on for a while, and like somebody pointed out, it has to do with DRM. The last time I checked, Channel 5 had the same "issue". The real fix is for the media companies really, so not much to do. Personally, I switched to my PS3 for most things.

According to the Amazon topic above this should work with media-libs/hal-flash which has been added to the Portage tree, but I haven't tried it yet.
