ERROR: app-misc/pax-utils-0.4 failed.

I'm trying to create a tiny gentoo alot of packages on the system are outdated and I was trying to update portage, I emerged portage with the nodeps option and was trying to pull the dependencies afterwards, one of the dependencies was successfully installed though

This log is too short for someone to help you. Please attach some more lines from output.

Actually it just worked, I can't pinpoint exactly what I did
