Hi.
I have a new laptop. An MSI GT70-ONDUS.
It has an i7 processor with graphics on board, and an nvidia gtx675M. I have been fighting with this thing for days now trying to get bumblebee to work.
I have been following documents at places like here, here and here.
I think my first hurdle here is that my nvida card does not like to show up. None of the nvidia-drivers packages in portage seem to work, and I even tried downloading the driver directly from nvidia, and that didn't work either.
I get all manner of messages like the following in my /var/log/messages:
Code: | May 5 13:07:39 chrisMSILT-lin kernel: [ 29.799219] nvidia 0000:01:00.0: power state changed by ACPI to D0

This particular snippet is using the nvidia drives not in portage -- the ones that nvidia claim support my card (3.19.17). I have tried 3.19.17 in portage and 313.30 (which is current stable in portage). The messages only get worse using the ones in portage -- espcially the 313.30. After deleting my /var/log/messages, install 313.30 and rebooting my system my /var/log/messages is up to 9MB in less than a minute! It has that many complaints.
This is my first dealings with optimus on linux... so I admit to not knowing what I'm doing here... but I don't even think I have gotten to the "Optimus" part of optimus yet...
An lspci shows my card: Code: |
01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: NVIDIA Corporation GF114M [GeForce GTX 675M] (rev a1 |
There is no /dev/nvidia or /dev/nvidiactl (or anything similar) on my system.
Any help is much appreciated.
Thanks.

I was missing one of those options, but unfortunately, it didn't make any difference... _________________ To look without without looking within is like looking without without looking at all. |
