I used this some time ago:
http://od-eon.com/blogs/stefan/improving-the-font-rendering-on-gentoo-infinality/
I don't know if I like it though, I tunned my desktop for this, and after some days I stopped feeling strange when looking at the screen
But in some other text box with a sis video chip it screwed the fonts badly.
All in all, I have gotten different results in different machines. The whole font rendering stuff is way too complex for me to understand, plus I have no interest in it, other than being able to see what's in my screen without my eyes eploding in the process. Text consoles were perfect in that regard. |

I know little about fonts, as I told you above.
In my understanding, this are slightly different variants of the infinality subpixel hinting engine, which will try to look as similar as possible to the listed thingies. Whether the fake is good or bad... I really don't know. I never owned a mac so can't compare.
I say try them, and after setting a new one restart X.
If you really want to compare, make a screenshots for each mode and then compare |

I (re)open a browser, than I can see the new look of the fonts after modifying them with eselect. When it's good only then I restart X. _________________ Paul |
