I am trying to build a x32 box for several usages. However, I cannot compile nginx under this ABI, so is it possible to build an amd64 nginx with other part x32?

the message is something like "sysctl system call is unsupported in x32 kernel".

You'll never be able to run the compiled x64 code in x86 box.

They are talking about x32, not x86.

OstCollector: I think you can have a per-package -m64 flag. I do not recall the details, but I do remember at least one package failing to build in x32 when I tried, and that was the workaround. So what you are looking to do is possible, I just don't remember how to do it. :)

I don't know the current status of multilib and x32 in Gentoo, but mind that if you want to build a package as x86_64 you will also need to have all it's link dependencies as x86_64 as well (in parallel to the x32 version). You may also have to enable extra kernel options for x86_64 support (never dealt with x32 stuff).

Have a look here.

Although the topic is almost a year old, I still have the feeling that x32 is not major enough yet, or that the hassle involved is worth the trouble.

Being busy for a while.
I am trying to make a pure x32 box as a experiment. :D

It seems to be something related to a header
I made a patch for myself, and trying to submit a bug.
Also, this problem still exists in the newest stable version.
