Just checked portage and the only pdf viewer I see is gspdf (masked)

What others are available and what's being used?

I use okular. It's a KDE app, though.

Recommended pdf readers from the Gentoo Wiki.

I too prefer KDE's okular but qpdfview is very good and does not require the KDE libraries (it's pure qt).

Thanks for the wiki link - didn't think of it.

What annoys me is that when I did
Code:
emerge -s pdf

I didn't see any viewers - qpdf-view should at least have shown up since it has the requisite PDF in the ebuild name.

That 'cause you're doing it wrong.

You should be doing a regex search. This works:
Code:
emerge -s %pdf

I'm a fan of mupdf myself, although since firefox got nice pdf viewing support like chrome/chromium I've been using that instead.
