Hello fellas,
I'm trying to make my USB speakers work on PulseAudio.
I know he usb audio is properly set on my kernel because I used a usb SounBlaster Audigy 2NX with no problems. This speakers, somehow, don't properly work with the PulseAudio daemon. What I mean is that I can see the speakers on alsamixer and is listed as a sound card:

The problem comes when I try to set the speakers as the default output on the Sound Preferences. They just don't appear there.

I don't know if this is the problem you're having, but I experienced weird stuff when ALSA knew about sound devices but they weren't actually usable: In my case, I had an HDMI audio that I didn't want to use, so I removed the HDMI codec, but ALSA still knew it was there, and it caused all kinds of carnage. Pulseaudio got really pissed off and KDE kept popping up boxes about having it forget about a removed sound card (that was actually my working sound card!), and this old graphical asoundrc editor I found would crash when doing settings on the working device.
So, I guess I would check for a situation like that. Problem fixed by reenabling the HDMI codec and using a .asoundrc to route default where I want it. |

| I'm setting this post as resolved. This was happening to me with Gnome 2.32; I'm now on Gnome 3 and this is not even a problem. |
