Moved (copied) from here
I'm having trouble with X detecting the proggy-fonts that I installed via portage
My Xorg.conf looks like this:
Code: |
Section "Files"
FontPath "/usr/share/fonts/proggy-clean/"
EndSection
|
And the font.dir file in the proggy clean font dir looks like so:
Code: |
11
ProggyClean.pcf.gz -windows-proggyclean-medium-r-normal--13-80-96-96-c-70-iso8859-1
ProggyCleanCP.pcf.gz -windows-proggycleancp-medium-r-normal-sans-13-80-96-96-c-70-iso8859-1
ProggyCleanSZ.pcf.gz -windows-proggycleansz-medium-r-normal--13-80-96-96-c-70-iso8859-1
ProggyCleanSZBP.pcf.gz -windows-proggycleanszbp-medium-r-normal--13-80-96-96-c-70-iso8859-1
ProggyCleanSZCP.pcf.gz -windows-proggycleanszcp-medium-r-normal--13-80-96-96-c-70-iso8859-1
ProggySmall.pcf.gz -windows-proggysmall-medium-r-normal--10-80-96-96-c-70-iso8859-1
ProggySquare.pcf.gz -windows-proggysquare-medium-r-normal--11-80-96-96-c-70-iso8859-1
ProggySquareSZ.pcf.gz -windows-proggysquaresz-medium-r-normal--11-80-96-96-c-70-iso8859-1
ProggyTiny.pcf.gz -windows-proggytiny-medium-r-normal--10-80-96-96-c-60-iso8859-1
ProggyTinyBold.pcf.gz -fontforge-proggytinysz-bold-r-normal--10-80-96-96-c-60-iso8859-1

The fonts do show up in fc-list but not xfontsel. I also cannot get them to work in URxvt _________________ Nurble nurble. |

Apparantly URxvt wasn't compiled with the XFT use flag, now it is.
Now I can use XFT to choose fonts, which does read from fc-list? Well, apparantly, even if I type in the name of the font as it appears in fc-list (minuse the pcf ending) it still won't use the font, it goes to the default font (whose name I do not know). So... did I miss another use flag or should I give up hope on using these fonts. I may want to add I have been able to use other fonts, such as Terminus (what I am using right now), DeJaVu Sans Mono, Luxi Mono, etc, etc.
