Which gentoo package provides high quality monospaced fonts for code writing? I want to add the font in emacs, so I would be interested in its system-name too.
I used this font on my old non-gentoo system:
Code:
(set-face-font 'default "-misc-fixed-medium-r-normal--15-*-75-75-c-90-iso8859-15")

It was not perfect, but readable.

I just can recommend to have a look at http://www.fontsquirrel.com/fonts/list/style/Monospaced ... a lot of useful and very nice fonts. My personal favorite at the moment is Verily Serif Mono ...

PS: I know it's outside the Gentoo packaging system but you might find it useful anyway ;-)

I have installed
Code:
media-fonts/font-bh-lucidatypewriter-100dpi
media-fonts/font-bh-lucidatypewriter-75dpi

How can I enable the font via .emacs.el?

Hi Jonas.

Not via emacs, but via the very comfortable eselect Tool, described here: http://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/Fontconfig

Regards, Andy.
