Can't run FbPanel or SuxPanel.

I'm installing Gentoo with kernel 3.7.9 using Openbox as the Wm and need a panel. BmPanel is too basic, has no docn, and hasn't been touched since 2008. PyPanel is usable but very limited. FbPanel and SuxPanel look like better alternatives, but here are the results of invoking them:

Both emerged without any problems reported. Can anyone suggest where to go from here with debugging them?
