Hello,

After the latest xorg upgrade, I started to see the error below when trying to open a window with sci-physics/root.
I can reproduce this with both sci-physics/root-5.32.03-r2 (x86) and with sci-physics/root-5.34.05 (~x86)

~ $ root -l
root [0] TBrowser bb
Error in <RootX11ErrorHandler>: BadAlloc (insufficient resources for operation) (TGFrame XID: 215, XREQ: 152)
TGFrame: 215

According to this thread on the root forum
http://root.cern.ch/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=15903
the problem seems to be due to this specific version of xorg (X.Org X Server 1.13.1) which, according to this page
http://packages.gentoo.org/package/x11-base/xorg-server,
is the most recent one. In the thread linked above, they say that the issue was fixed in 1.13.1.901

Any idea about how to solve this?
Thank you,

Davide

You could try bumping to an unstable version of xorg-server, and test if it works.

Hi jpc22,

Thanks a bunch! that fixed my problem. I had to use ~x86 for another handful of packages (see below) that depend on xorg-server, but then I was able to compile everything and the problem is gone.
Thank you,

davide

Code:

=x11-base/xorg-server-1.14.0 ~x86
=x11-proto/inputproto-2.3 ~x86
=x11-base/xorg-drivers-1.14 ~x86
=x11-drivers/xf86-input-synaptics-1.6.3 ~x86
=x11-drivers/xf86-video-fbdev-0.4.3-r1 ~x86
=x11-drivers/xf86-video-vesa-2.3.2-r1 ~x86
