|
|
When I click on "write" or "reply" in Thunderbird 17.0.3 I get a full-screen compose window. There seems no way to reduce the window. The titlebar is not clickable, there are no symbols to the top right of the titlebar, and though there is a triangular symbol displayed at the lower right, which looks as though it might be dragable, it is not. There is no way to get to any other workspace. The window borders are not dragable.
Composition in the window works, and the resulting email can be sent.
I run a stable gentoo system with the xfce desktop. Everything worked well until my last update, a week ago.
Can I fix by changing some configuration, or deleting some config file, without losing all stored mail? |

You could try creating a new profile that uses your existing Thunderbird mail dir instead of creating a new one.
Code: |
thunderbird -profilemanager
|
or
Code: |
thunderbird-bin -profilemanager
|
If that doesn't work, the next thing I would do is switch from thunderbird to thunderbird-bin, if you're not using thunderbird-bin already. Thunderbird is one of the packages that has a precompiled binary ebuild in Portage because things often go wrong and compile can take a long time. _________________ decibel Linux: https://decibellinux.org

Unfortunately, this does not seem to work. If I create an entirely new profile, the write window behaves normally. If I use the existing folder to retain my mail, the incorrect behaviour of the write window persists.
Clearly, the fault is not in the software, but in some configuration somewhere, which I need to modify or delete and re-generate. |
