I'm making my own Gentoo cd (using merge -b), because my sister wants Linux on her old Compaq PC and i have little time. I have two questions:
1) Do i have to make a copy of the portage tree to the cd, or isn't that nessacerry?
2) She uses a 56k6 modem to connect to the internet, but what packages should i build to get the modem working? I have read this topic, but how about KDE. I thougt it uses kpp, but wich packages contains that? _________________ Groeten uit Holland |

1. I think it would be a good idea, since you don't want to rsync 10MB of with 56k modem and you buliding the packages from your current portage snapshot.
2. kppp is part of kdenetwork. To see which packages it depends on:
Code: | emerge -pe kdenetwork |
p is shortcut for pretend.
e is shortcut for emptytree.
