When i do so i get this

*
* Call stack:
* ebuild.sh, line 93: Called src_configure

running configure, to aid debugging if configure makes a mistake.

It was created by systemd configure 197, which was
generated by GNU Autoconf 2.69. Invocation command line was

Since it's econf that failed, there is also config.log in the /var/tmp/portage work directory of sys-fs/udev

So you need to attach both, build.log and config.log for any of this to make sense & to get help

Looks like you need to `emerge -1 XML-Parser` for that specific problem, but you have wider issue of forgetting to run `perl-cleaner --all` after upgrading perl

So

Code:

# emerge -1 XML-Parser
# perl-cleaner --all

that resolved this issue with udev-197. Thank you very much, hopefully the rest of the updates will go off without a hitch
