What they need in southern France is a fresh air raid to cleanse the masses. |

Fully 50% of the men, and 30% of women, do not use deodorant.
Average British citizen uses 3 pounds of soap annually. The German uses 2.9 pounds, and the average Frenchman uses 1.3 pounds. This means the average Frenchman uses four or five bars of soap a year. Since this is an average, that means some French use more soap than that, but some use a lot less.
Of those surveyed 67% of French respondents said they brush their teeth twice a day. Le Figaro did the math. If that were true, sales of toothpaste should be more than 240 million tubes a year, and not the current (1998) 198.5 million.
Le Figaro cited experts who concluded that “more than one French person in two does not respect elementary rules of body hygiene.” |

Agreed completely. He's the only decent writer left at NRO.
Many do not get his sarcastic/sardonic wit, but it is a pleasure to read. While I disagree with him on some fundamentals, I find myself agreeing with him more often than not.
(side bar) NRO has been usurped by the Catholics. I used to read them weekly, but now I find myself only reading JG. _________________ People Of Love

Slow down there cowboy. He is entertaining, not right.
I haven't read him in years. I stopped reading when he got serious. It felt like he started to believe his own bullshit. |

As I said, and you quoted "While I disagree with him on some fundamentals, I find myself agreeing with him more often than not." To agree with someone more than 50% of the time makes that statement true. If you disagree with Goldberg more than 50% of the time I'd have to question your ability to think.

Some of it he does, but he's still funny. And Liberal Fascism is a must read, especially for those on the left. _________________ People Of Love

Actually, Liberal Fascism is exactly when I stopped being interested in him. Compared to his web writing, particularly the early stuff, the book was shockingly Coulterish. When I got to the chapter claiming that Bill Clinton was a fascist, I realized that I wasn't reading the book I was expecting. It was just a long political attack, not a serious intellectual work. I should have realized it earlier, since the forward basically says outright that the book is a big hissy-fit, not a rational appraisal of the facts. |
