Hello,
really, why? I can't imagine any scenario when publicly available build.log is a security threat. I'm really tired of changing permissions to this file each time I need to share it with someone, e.g. post a bugreport on bugzilla. (As a decent user I use root as little as I can and bugs are posted via a normal user.) Aside from bugreports I often need to grep that file to understand what is amiss and I always have to either change permissions or perform required action using root. Both solutions are annoying.
Can I at least tell portage to set 0644 on build.log? _________________ Per aspera ad astra! |

Hmm, that's too much. I don't want to allow an ordinary user (even if it is my own account) to allow modifications to the portage tree or distfiles. _________________ Per aspera ad astra! |
