This morning portage has USE -dri default for xf86-video-intel:
Code: | [ebuild R ] x11-drivers/xf86-video-intel-2.20.18 USE="-dri*" |
Code: | % sudo lshw |grep -B 2 -A 8 -i graph
*-display
description: VGA compatible controller

bus info: pci@0000:00:02.0

capabilities: msi pm vga_controller bus_master cap_list rom
configuration: driver=i915 latency=0 |
Things have been good with video on my Thinkpad X201 lately on ~amd64. Even WebGL seems to be working.
Has anything changed with dri's relevance that I should accept the default to disable it?
Thanks. |

You should have dri flag enabled, or else things will break.
The setting which enables dri by default was recently moved from the default into the desktop profile, which is probably why portage wants to disable it now. |
