Any of you USians followed David Seaman? Young guy with seemingly good head on his shoulders was running for congress as independant, had a fairly large albeit online audience, and withdrew from the race in past few days?
Just to give you a taste:
Code: | David Seaman @d_seaman
Hey, liberals: when Noam Chomsky says Obama has 'no moral center,' do you dismiss him as a GOP hack or neocon? |
Joe Rogan podcast with him:

last few tweets:
Code: | David Seaman @d_seaman
.@gregorylent @katg4 My short lived campaign leads me to believe you're right. Campaign finance is designed to shut out independent voices |

He's correct about campaign finance. It's part of why I don't vote - nothing worth voting for. Better to live one's life according to principles than ask some random stranger you'll never meet to do something for you and end up wondering why you did that. _________________ Gentoo Studio in open beta. I voted only once, back in 1991, just before war in balkans broke out. I imagined the candidate was 100% obvious winner. He did after all reduce Yugoslavias debt to IMF by 50%, raised wages by a lot, dismantled state-owned sorry ass factories and gave layed off workers 24month paycheck to survive or start their own. Also if you did start your own business, first year you didn't have to pay taxes, 2nd year was 25%, 3rd 50%, etc etc, all with goal of transition from planned economy which didn't work, to the small family business networked model that was being developed with success at the time in northern Italy.
I mean others running in elections were neandertahls talking about Serbian Pride, and Freedom to be true Croat, cleanse their fatherland from those pesky Others, and worship their imaginary friend in catholic churches.
He won something like 2-5% of votes, while nationalists had overwhelming majority.
It set the cogs turning, you start connecting the dots, media blasting panic and news of ethnical unrest (even if you couldn't notice it anywhere yourself), blasting ideological mythological nationalistic nonsense, etc etc. Then some 15-20 years after you start reading about those nationalists and their connections with financial interests, IMF, and so on.
The game is rigged, and it is so rare nowadays that the government is actually taking care of their citizens in positive and empowering way. |

That sounds a lot like the U.S. The people who I think would do the most good for their people are the ones being sent to politcal Gulag a la mainstream media on /ignore. I mean, Nader and Kucinich were the last two people I would have come out of my little rock to vote for and they didn't even run last time. I still remember Michael Moore publicly begging Nader not to run - what a maroon.
May your country be wiser than mine. _________________ Gentoo Studio in open beta. Feedback wanted. |

| lol. Never heard of the guy, but it seems obvious why he dropped out. People willingly voted for Obama after 4 years, so this guy might not even get his own vote, never mind the vote of others. |
And the problem with not being professional is that you waste my time saying a lot of gibber jabber and I stop listening. _________________ I can saw a woman in two, but you won't want to look in the box when I'm through.

They talk about that in the podcast too, people have been conditioned into this ADD behavioural pattern where you have to say everything you have to say in 2 minutes or else. Some stuff need longer to be said. |

On a related note, I've never listened to a podcast, and blogs are useless more often than not.
Actually, I take that back. I started listening to a podcast (back when they were all the new hotness) of a tech news site, then realized it would be faster and less annoying to just read the articles. _________________ I can saw a woman in two, but you won't want to look in the box when I'm through.
