Hey,
So, normally alsamixer just resets itself everytime i reboot and if I want to listen to anything I have to unmute the master volume. This was annoying me so I googled how I could save alsamixer settings. They said to run alsaconf so I did, and that gave me a:
No supported PnP or PCI card found.
Would you like to probe legacy ISA sound cards/chips?
And I said yes. And it returned me a
No legacy drivers are available
and so I was like...ok, whatever.
I went to alsamixer, and I tried to unmute the master volume but it didn't matter because there was still no sound. I unmuted every single thing just to make sure that nothing was acting up. All I got back was static sound...that sound when the speakers are on but there's no music playing. And I have no idea what's wrong. I tried changing the sound card selection in F6. Still no luck.
My card is: HDA ATI SB
My chip is: Realtek ALC89
The sound did work...so the sound card was/is working. |

The command you were looking for was #alsactl store
that will store whatever you set with #alsamixer
obviously #alsaconf messed up your settings. so you need to get it back to default,
i would try reemerging alsa with --oneshot.
if that does not work i would delete all alsa config files and try emerging it again in hope it sets everything back to default. |
