I recently got a toslink cable for my computer in order to free up the aux slot in the amplifier. It worked surprisingly well, but for one annoying glitch:
Whenever there is a period of ~1 second or more of silence, the audio cuts out, and it takes about as long for it to kick back in again after the sound starts again. With most music this isn't a problem, but with videos and podcasts the effect varies from somewhat annoying to absolutely infuriating.
Is there any sane & simple way I can use that will make the sound not hiccup when there is a moment of silence in the soundtrack? |

My system is a desktop, and I don't have any power management in use to begin with. |
