does someone of you guys know where to get a working patch of the overlayfs filesystem for linux-3.7?

Thanks!

Greetings,

I read somewhere on a redhat list that there are serious problems with overlayfs and linux-3.7. It seems that they currently switched back to aufs.

The top 13 commitdiffs here: http://kernel.ubuntu.com/git?p=ubuntu%2Fubuntu-raring.git&a=search&h=HEAD&st=commit&s=overlayfs <- it compiles, but I haven't actually used the compiled kernel yet.

Thanks, I was not aware of this. So it seems development of overlayfs has moved from git.kernel.org to ubuntu.com. This might be bad sign for inclusion into the main kernel.

Development hasn't moved. It's just that I know Ubuntu uses overlayfs, so I checked there if they might have already updated it for 3.7

Thanks! I tested the patches from the ubuntu git tree. They seem to be working so far.

Greetings

Code:
> cd /var/portage/layman/init6/sys-kernel/geek-sources/files/3.7.1/
> find . -name "*overlayfs*"
./mageia/fs-ovl05-overlayfs-add-statfs-support.patch
./mageia/fs-ovl06-overlayfs-implement-show_options.patch
./mageia/fs-ovl09-overlayfs-fix-possible-leak-in-ovl_new_inode.patch
./mageia/fs-ovl10-overlayfs-create-new-inode-in-ovl_link.patch
./mageia/fs-ovl13-overlayfs-copy-up-i_uid-i_gid-from-the-underlying-in.patch
./suse/patches.suse/ovl05-overlayfs-add-statfs-support.patch
./suse/patches.suse/ovl06-overlayfs-implement-show_options.patch
./suse/patches.suse/ovl09-overlayfs-fix-possible-leak-in-ovl_new_inode.patch
./suse/patches.suse/ovl10-overlayfs-create-new-inode-in-ovl_link.patch
./suse/patches.suse/ovl13-overlayfs-copy-up-i_uid-i_gid-from-the-underlying-in.patch

So…

Code:
layman -a init6

and
Code:
USE="mageia" emerge sys-kernel/geek-sources

or
Code:
USE="suse" emerge sys-kernel/geek-sources

or
Code:
USE="mageia suse" emerge sys-kernel/geek-sources

Since the only "working" implementation for overlayfs seems to be from ubuntu, currently, here is a heads up:

This is the same error which I recall to have seen for RedHat.
