I got through my first install of Gentoo last night, and when I finally rebooted, to my surprise my old Freebsd boot loader menu showed up, something like this:
F1: Linux
F2: ???
F3: Linux
It looks like it is picking up my partitioning scheme (the ??? is swap space). Any idea how to get rid of the old Freebsd boot loader and get grub to take over?
Thanks,

Did you run through the entire grub install, specfically where you execute setup (hd0)? Maybe you installed to one of your partitions instead of the MBR? |
