Hi Guys,

As you helped me last time, I decided to post here another problem I am having with my gentoo.
I am trying to configure some options for my touchpad in KDE, already emerged synaptiks, synaptics-drivers, compiled all but touchscreen-synaptics synaptics drivers in the kernel but can't manage to make X detect it.
I am going to post my dmesg and X.log.0 here and ask for help or insights in how should I make my touchpad work.
The file is a bit large but as I don't know what is relevant or not, I am going to post everything here.
Thanks in advance.

Nelson

Here is my dmesg:

MOD EDIT: unclosed bbcode tag broke forum formatting - post was too large, had to remove a ton of text (none of it relevant to this issue, however). Suggest using pastebin, and while we're at it, pastebin /var/log/Xorg.0.log - Otherwise, carry on! --cach0rr0

I make a config file to get my touchpad working

/etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/10-synaptics.conf

Section "InputClass"
Identifier "touchpad catchall"
Driver "synaptics"
MatchIsTouchpad "on"
MatchDevicePath "/dev/input/event*"
Option "TapButton1" "1"
Option "TapButton2" "2"
Option "TapButton3" "3"
EndSection

got the info from https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Synaptics

Good sutff! You might want to edit your original subject and add [SOLVED] so that others know how you fixed your problem (and that you fixed it!).

Apologies - I guess I assumed it since there isn't an Xorg.0.log yet :-)

Sorry guys for not answering earlier. No, it didn't solve the problem either. In fact, nothing changed creating this 10-synaptics.conf. synaptiks (kde) still don't see the touchpad nor does X.
I did post Xorg.0.log previously but I was too long. Here it is again.

you can dump these logs onto pastebin, and simply share the link with us - makes it a bit easier for things this long

assuming you don't have X, you can simply emerge wgetpaste and then, for example:

Code:

#wgetpaste /var/log/Xorg.0.log
#dmesg | wgetpaste

also, for pasting log files or code snippets, you will have better luck using the code bbtag, instead of quote, since using quote has a nice habit of converting text into smiley faces.

I do have X. Nice, never used pastebin before. Thanks for the tips. I will do that right now.

I had a similar problem with my touchpad not recognized in dmesg.
Here's how i got mine working:

kernel config
Code:
Input device support  --->
      [*]   Mice  --->
         <M>   PS/2 mouse
         [*]     Elantech PS/2 protocol extension

/etc/modprobe.d/touchpad.conf
Code:
options psmouse proto=auto

you can also try other psmouse proto parameters like bare, imps, exps, any

Nice, seems like it solved the problem. I turned on all three extrensions and it detected the Sentelic FingerSensing Pad.
Thanks again, guys!
