After running
Code:
emerge -uNDva world
I did
Code:
emerge --depclean
and then
Code:
revdep-rebuild
which ended up failing to emerge one package with error econf failed.

Code:
 * ERROR: dev-util/gperf-3.0.4 failed (configure phase):
 *   econf failed
 *

If you do not know how to post the error please pastebin /var/tmp/portage/dev-util/gperf-3.0.4/temp/build.log (make friends with wgetpaste).

Also, since this is a configure failure, pastebin the config.log, so that we can see exactly what error caused configure to abort. The build log can tell us what test failed, but may not tell us how the test failed.
