it seems I am able to run my qt4 applications(like smplayer and qbit torrent) as root but not as a regular user
for qbittorrent:
root:
Qt: Session management error: None of the authentication protocols specified are supported
Couldn't set environment variable...
Peer ID: -qB2970-
HTTP user agent is qBittorrent v2.9.7
regular:
Segmentation fault
smplayer:
root:
Qt: Session management error: None of the authentication protocols specified are supported
This is SMPlayer v. 0.8.1 running on Linux
regular:
This is SMPlayer v. 0.8.1 running on Linux
Segmentation fault
any ideas?
fixed by emerging libSM, libICE and qt-core, then re-emerging the app

What kind of environment are you running these in? How do you start up your X session? _________________ "Those who deny freedom to others deserve it not for themselves." - Abraham Lincoln
