|
|
I've given up on VLC, it seems I have a problem with QT4 applications, so for the time being I'm looking for an alternative
I need a media player that will automatically run all the media in a folder when i select all(ctrl+a) and press enter
it also needs to support media keys(next, previous, pause..etc) alsaplayer does not support those keys
I'm using alsa player
mplayer, VLC and Decibel are not working
I'll be needing a music player and a video player(1 app or 2 apps doesn't matter)
Thanks,
Adel

You should fix the issues you are having, instead of looking for alternatives. MPlayer (or the fork mplayer2), and SMPlayer (frontend) are the best for video. VLC comes close. For music look at MPD and a frontend of your choice, for example Cantata. _________________ "Those who deny freedom to others deserve it not for themselves." - Abraham Lincoln

Sounds like you're going to be automating your media playback so why not emerge vlc without qt4? |

@yngwin: I am working on it, I have another thread about it
but you know, OS basics: internet access+music player
so I'm using an alternative while I fix my qt problems, smplayer is not working either unless I run as root
@bonafide I'll give it a shot
thank you both |

Oh, XMMS should still fit the bill as it plays both. _________________ "It's ok, they might have guns but we have flowers." - Perpetual Victim |

@blakdeath - there was some topic about qt apps working at root only ( u have to emerge libSM libICE and qt-core, and eventually enable ipv6 - should take less than 10 mins ) _________________ Sent from Windows |
