Amarok 2.6 failed 85% of the way through CMake and Amarok 2.5 failed 8% of the way through CMake. I tried with both hardened and vanilla compilers and got the same result each time. I can't really even figure out what the problem is, as CMake output doesn't really make sense to me.

Code:

Seeing the same thing, I believe. I can't find any real error message in the log.

Having an actual build log (bug report?) to look at would be great!

Have you recently updated to mesa-9.0? If so install virtual/glu-9.0, which should pull in media-libs/glu-9.0.0.
If that works, a report on bugs.gentoo.org about missing dependency by amarok on virtual/glu would be nice :)

I can't remember the last time that amarok failed to build here. I even upgraded to -9999 today which went fine.

Also, this doesn't look like a glu error - and amarok didn't break when I checked through all the packages after the 9.0 bump. But well, what do I know - the error doesn't tell much.

franzf's suggestion won't cut it. I already have glu in there.

Do you then have a /ur/lib64/libGLU.so? If you run ldd on it do you have all dependant libs resolved?
What abou libGL.so?

I ask that because googling for the error brings up posts with a solution "symlink file [xyz] to /usr/lib[64]/libGL[U].so" - if that resolves the issue probably you really have an issue with libGLU.
The root of course may be hardcoded locations in the cmake files (*), so if using amarok-9999 helps there maybe is a fix...
