Can't install IntelliJ IDE(SOLVED)

  • Quote

Post by pstar » Sun Oct 21, 2012 6:50 am

Not sure why I can't install IntelliJ IDE community version from luman overlay.

Code: Select all

eix idea-community
* dev-util/idea-community [1]
     Available versions:  ((get_major_version)) (~)11.1.3^s
     Homepage:            http://jetbrains.com/idea/
     Description: IntelliJ IDEA is an intelligent Java IDE

[1] "luman" /var/lib/layman/luman

Code: Select all

 emerge -av idea-community

These are the packages that would be merged, in order:

Calculating dependencies... done!

emerge: there are no ebuilds to satisfy "idea-community".

emerge: searching for similar names...
emerge: Maybe you meant any of these: dev-perl/IP-Country, app-portage/repo-commit, lxde-base/lxde-common?
I've already tried 'emerge -uDNav world' and add 'dev-util/idea-community' into my package-keywords.

I have just added the luman overlay, and run eix-update. eix idea-community gives:

Code: Select all

* dev-util/idea-community [1]
     Available versions:  ((get_major_version)) ~11.1.3^s
     Homepage:            http://jetbrains.com/idea/
     Description: IntelliJ IDEA is an intelligent Java IDE

[1] "luman" /var/lib/layman/luman
After keywording, I get:

Code: Select all

# emerge -av idea-community

These are the packages that would be merged, in order:

Calculating dependencies... done!
[ebuild  N    ~] dev-util/idea-community-11.1.3::luman  107,910 kB

Total: 1 package (1 new), Size of downloads: 107,910 kB
Not so much use, except it does confirm that it works elsewhere.

You could try updating the overlay (or even removing and then re-adding it).

Code: Select all

layman -S
Do you use other overlays, or is this the only one?
Could you post the output of

Code: Select all

emerge --info
?

... done!

!!! All ebuilds that could satisfy "idea-ultimate" have been masked.
!!! One of the following masked packages is required to complete your request:
- dev-util/idea-ultimate-11.0.1::x-overlays (masked by: corruption)
- dev-util/idea-ultimate-10.5_rc2::x-overlays (masked by: corruption)
- dev-util/idea-ultimate-10.5_rc1::x-overlays (masked by: corruption)

For more information, see the MASKED PACKAGES section in the emerge
man page or refer to the Gentoo Handbook.
I don't why idea-ultimate is here while idea-community is not in my portage?

As you have identified, this is your issue:
I also noticed that:

Code: Select all

ls /usr/local/portage/overlays/dev-util/
idea-ultimate
Do you have another overlay which has created this entry? Is there a 10.5_rc2 ebuild in there? What does

Code: Select all

layman -l
give you? If it is installed by another overlay, anyway it is corrupt and needs to be removed -

Code: Select all

layman -d OffendingOverlayName
If it is not from another overlay (perhaps a local ebuild?), remove the dev-util/idea-ultimate sub directory.

Once this entry is gone, emerge will find the version in the luman overlay, and everything should proceed as expected!

Code: Select all

layman -l
* arduino                   [Git       ] (git://gitorious.org/gentoo-ardu...)
* lightscribe               [Git       ] (git://git.disconnected-by-peer....)
* luman                     [Git       ] (git://git.o.g.o/user/luman.git    )
* seden                     [Git       ] (git://git.o.g.o/user/seden.git    )
* sunrise                   [Git       ] (git://git.o.g.o/proj/sunrise-re...)
None of these in particular seems will cause the issue.

As a test, I did 'layman -d luman', and after that, 'eix idea-community' return nothing. so I would
assume that idea-community could only comes from luman overlay?

I would assume add 'dev-util/idea-community' into my '/etc/portage/package.keywords' should be enough?

also did re-adding luman, still no luck.

As root, delete the dev-util/idea-ultimate directory:

Code: Select all

rm -r /usr/local/portage/overlays/dev-util/idea-ultimate
Re add the overlay, and you should now be able to emerge ok.

Sorry, I am not paying enough attention. In summary:
  • You want dev-util/idea-community, but have not been able to emerge it dispite having added the luman overlay and eix finding the package.
  • You have identified that idea-ultimate is present in /usr/local/portage/overlays directory.
According to "emerge --info", your system is not looking in the /var/lib/layman directory. Are you sourcing the layman configuration file from your make.conf? Please post your make.conf (probably in /etc/, but possibly in /etc/portage/), and the layman configuration file referred to in there.

Paulj, thank you very much, the problem is in my make.conf!

There are few lines of 'PORTDIR-OVERLAY = ' in my make.conf after line 'source /var/lib/layman/make.conf', which according to http://en.gentoo-wiki.com/wiki/Overlay will not work. comment out those lines fixed the issue.

I am still not sure how those multi-lines of PORTDIR_OVERLAY got into my make.conf.
