Hello, my first post since ten years, but I really don't know what I am doing wrong:
/dev/sda4 holds a stage3-amd64-20120917.tar.bz2
I compiled a plain 64-bit Linux 3.4.4 kernel with chroot from a current amd64 livecd on this partition.
lilo.conf looks like this:
lba32
boot = /dev/sda
map = /boot/.map
prompt
timeout = 20
vga = 0x315
image = /boot/Gentoo64
root = /dev/sda4
label = Gentoo64
fstab:
/dev/sda4 / ext4 defaults,noatime,discard 0 1
I now boot the kernel and after all the printk's it doesn't start the init-script's.
No kernel panic and no complain at all.
The kernel is running - when I connect an USB drive the printk's show that it is correctly recognised.
I tried many different things like append = /sbin/init into lilo.conf, taking fbcon out of the kernel, etc to no avail.
Any hints?
Regards,
Mario |

Do you have /dev/console in your static /dev or CONFIG_DEVTMPFS_MOUNT=y? |

Yes, /dev/console was missing - I switched CONFIG_DEVTMPFS_MOUNT on and all was well! Thanks Hu, Thanks iamben. |
