I've setup a new environment and installed enlightenment (E16) and it seems all the window borders and control elements (checkboxes, radio buttons, etc.) are not showing. Did I miss something? _________________ "It's ok, they might have guns but we have flowers." - Perpetual Victim

This is really weird, I may even take a screenshot just to show everyone, all the UI elements and even the borders in enlightenment are missing! _________________ "It's ok, they might have guns but we have flowers." - Perpetual Victim |

I've been using e16 for three years (enlightenment-16.9999). I think this is a configuration problem. Perhaps the default theme is missing or corrupted. Themes go in the ~/.e16/themes/ directory.
There are literally hundreds of e16 themes available here. The eesh command line utility can show you what the current theme is and also what themes are installed on your system: Code: | $ eesh theme
$ eesh theme list |
You can even use it to switch to a new theme: Code: | $ eesh theme use <name> |
Almost every pixel is theme-able. Certainly all the pixels of the borders and buttons are. The theme I use has 465 images for drawing borders and buttons and backgrounds. You can also use "eesh cfg" to get directly to the configuration dialogs.
You can launch e16 inside a window which might make debugging major problems easier. If you already have a wm up and running, just run "SIZE=1024x768 starte16 window". The default size is 800x600. You can re-size the window is is very cool.
I've already written some guides for using e16 on Gentoo: |

Wait, I ran e16 in another WM like you suggested (Gnome), and I saw these messages in the terminal I was running it from whenever my mouse changed focus on anything in the e16 window I was running:

Yup, that did it. Thanks for the tip of running it in another WM. _________________ "It's ok, they might have guns but we have flowers." - Perpetual Victim |
