If I may offer two piece of advice: wgetpaste and fluxbox.

You use wgetpaste like this: emerge --info | wgetpaste and then you just have to post a URL.
fluxbox is good because it is really light so when (not if) KDE is not available, like now, you still have another envoroment to use. It should only take a few minutes to emerge. Enter using startfluxbox.

Personally I consider both these to be well worth installing since you never know when you will need them.

Thanks for the tips - I will have to do this when I get a chance again to look at the problem.

added strace into the script and ran make -j 1 again.
It turned out, that libxslt was missing.

emerge ibxslt helped till the next break...

"-i" in MAKEOPTS is my friend now... (ignore all errors and compile anyway)

If you just did a bare
Code:
emerge libxslt
then you just polluted your world set. You should've run with the --oneshot option, like
Code:
emerge -1 libxslt
and you should run
Code:
emerge --deselect libxslt
to clean up the mess.

Hi John,

thx for hint!
But I believe libxlt is being needed by kdelibs anywhere as compilation worked on that point.
The next hook was a new problem i worked around by -i

That's the point, actually. "In the world set" is equivalent to "needed by you". Since it's needed by kdelibs (i.e., it's a dependency of kdelibs), there's no need—and some small harm—for you to need it too. "emerge --deselect" doesn't remove it; it just removes your (in this case redundant) statement of need.

The "small harm" is that, if ever in the future kdelibs no longer depends on libxslt, then it would not be automatically removed because you have asserted an independent need. If you don't develop the habit of keeping your world set clean, you'll eventually end up with all kinds of cruft.

I am not quite shure as the compilation of kdelibs stopped within
emerge kde-meta

this look like libxslt not being in the dependency list of kdelibs

Ah, but I am sure:
Code:
~ # equery depgraph kdelibs-4.8.5 | grep libxslt
 [  1]  dev-libs/libxslt-1.1.27
