Hiyas, just thought I would share this. I have been successfully playing my Windows Steam games via the latest vmware. Just an example is Skyrim, I am running over 50 mods with ENB and SKSE ontop of that. It did need a couple of tweeks, the green water fix, lowering shadow resolution (very cpu intensive otherwise), turning off HD Texture packs. I have the frame rate limited to 30fps, and settings apart from shadows are set to High Detail. Its not perfect, there are some hitches when loading textures, but they tend to go away after playing for a few minutes. Other that Skyrim I have also played through The Walking Dead game.

Im guessing vmware player 5 performance would be the same??

Hello,

What's the point? This is not Gentoo related, but VMWare and Windows with VMWare graphics driver ;)

It's useful to know, that there's a gaming alternative to Wine.

Wine continually fixes 2 things and breaks 1 thing :(

Yes, the performance is not bad at all. I am running VMWare Player 5 and playing through Torchlight II on Steam which won't work at all with a wine / steam combo. The gameplay isn't perfect, as you say, but it is very good. I am impressed with the performance.

@shazeal:
Thanks for sharing. Do you have the possibilities to record a small video and upload it to Youtube?
May be recording the screen during gameplay with a HD cam ?

I would be interested in seeing some "live action" :)
