This is a really dumb question, but where can I find the src to aterm, I tried to find it using the locate command but no luck finding them. Do I have to use a cvs version? _________________ Bunder for president ^o^ |

try reading the readme.
use the following to get the source from cvs:
cvs -d :pserver:anonymous@cvs.afterstep.org:/home/cvsroot co aterm |

I did, but I was wondering if you could somehow just use the version already installed from portage :

I copied the latest ebuild to portage overlay and edited it to apply the patch. |

assuming you copied the current aterm ebuild into /usr/local/portage/x11-terms/aterm, and the aterm.diff file into /usr/local/portage/x11-terms/aterm/files, open the ebuild in an editor and insert the following line at the end of the src_unpack () section (but before the closing }):
epatch ${PORTDIR_OVERLAY}/x11-terms/aterm/files/aterm.diff
and run the ebuild |

What he said
This should work too:
epatch ${FILESDIR}/aterm.diff
(Also, you could follow the example of 'cjk' in the ebuild to add a USE flag for this feature) |

If you are changing the ebuild and using cjk, put the epatch line before the "use cjk" line - when I put it after, the patch failed - most likely since the cjk patch modifies things enough that patch cannot figure out where to modify the file. _________________ There are 11 types of people - those who can count in binary and those who cannot. |

Drop-shadows looks really nice, i can't live without it anymore, but...
Someone got "stripped" aterms using ncurses apps like mc, menuconfig and others?
It looks like tinny "clear" stroke between lines, really annoying. |

Thank's to reply.
Yes i had suspect this before, but trying a bunch of other fonts (console fonts, utf, iso) has the same results under aterm after the pach.
Aterm unpatched looks fine, and the others terms,(multi-aterm, Eterm, xterm) has no problem using the same fonts.
I used to use lots of different fonts and colors in aterms, it's really helpful to know if i'm working locally, as root, remotely( after this i never more did stupid things using ssh )
It seems something in the aterm patch does not like my locale settings (pt_BR).
Someone here has the same aterm annoyance using other languages than english?accented characters is a pain in the as***
Thanks in advance. |

*BUMP* I would like the dropshadow patch, altough it seems like the links on fluxmod.dk is broken. Anyone care to upload it? :) _________________ Adopt an unanswered post! |

I went looking for it and found it here. I hope ikaro does not mind me direct linking into his site.
EDIT.
I got this working with the aterm-0.4.2-r9 ebuild. Here is what I did.
- Copy the aterm-0.4.2-r9 to the portage overlay dir and renamed it to aterm-0.4.2-r10.
Also you need to run a Code: | ebuild /usr/local/portage/x11-terms/aterm/aterm-0.4.2-r10.ebuild digest | and copy all of the official patches to the files dir along with the drop shawdow patch.
I had to edit the atem.diff file to look like this. Code: | --- aterm/src/screen.c 2003-10-07 22:36:09.000000000 +0200
+++ aterm/src/screen.c 2003-10-18 01:13:50.000000000 +0200
...... |
In the ebuild I made the src_unpack section look like this. Code: | src_unpack() {
unpack ${P}.tar.bz2
cd ${S}/src
cp feature.h feature.h.orig
epatch ${PORTDIR_OVERLAY}/x11-terms/aterm/files/aterm.diff
...... |
Then just emerged it as normal and bask in the glory of the dropshadow.

Thanks for the instructions arand, they were very helpful.
aterm looks great with the drop shadow text now. However, I don't know if this is a side effect of the drop shadow patch, or just due to me upgrading to a newer version of aterm (aterm-0.4.2-r9), but my aterms' titles no longer display information such as what directory they are in. Does anyone else notice this? However, iirc, there is a way to set the titles and stuff? Hmm, gotta find that again. _________________ rcxAsh |

Yea are there any screenshots out there? Does it look similar to Eterm's drop shadowed text? _________________ Ubuntu Linux Dapper Drake running Gnome-2.14.1
