These questions seem a little silly to me, but I thought I'd ask before I do...
Will Catalyst modify my running system? For example: If I add a package to the Catalyst target does it get added to my running system?
For that to happen, I would need to run Catalyst as root. Do I need to run Catalyst as root?
Thanks
Steve

Ok, that was easy. Yes you must be root to run catalyst. If you try to run catalyst without being root, it tells you:

!!! catalyst: This script requires root privileges to operate

The other answer is: Catalyst doesn't mess up your running system. I expected this, but I wasn't sure.
Depending on the contents of /etc/catalyst/catalyst.conf, catalyst typically does all of it's stuff in /var/tmp/catalyst |
