|
|
Hi.
I've just installed Doom 3 and I can't get it to play any sound.
This is what I found in it's console output:
Quote: | ------------------------------------
dlopen(libasound.so.2)
asoundlib version: 1.0.25
Alsa is available
------ Alsa Sound Initialization -----
ALSA lib conf.c:3314:(snd_config_hooks_call) Cannot open shared library /usr/lib/alsa-lib/libasound_module_conf_pulse.so
ALSA lib pcm.c:2217:(snd_pcm_open_noupdate) Unknown PCM default
snd_pcm_open SND_PCM_STREAM_PLAYBACK 'default' failed: No such file or directory
dlclose
WARNING: sound subsystem disabled |
It looks like it's trying to load a 64bit library while running in 32bit mode. Any hints for this? |

Are you running a multilib system, with 32-bit libraries for compatibility? _________________

Yes.
Code: | $ qfile libasound_module_conf_pulse.so
media-plugins/alsa-plugins (/usr/lib64/alsa-lib/libasound_module_conf_pulse.so)
app-emulation/emul-linux-x86-soundlibs (/usr/lib32/alsa-lib/libasound_module_conf_pulse.so) |

dhewm3 might be better - is 64-bit-capable.
Edit: Here it is in the AUR.

Does that mean there won't be shadows in this version? |

Of course there are still shadows. Where would the zombies hide? |

Are you in one of the big DE's? (KDE, Gnome) They can impose their own "default" audio device on your system. During my last venture into KDE, I installed Doom3 and had similar problem. I didn't spend a lot of time with it, but the next time I started Doom3, I was in LXDE and it worked fine and It's still working fine. :)
@PaulBredbury; I didn't see dhewm3 in portage. Is there an overlay? Thanks.
