how to change maxsize of mbstr

hi
my problem is to set up an ssl cert. the mbstr functions maxsizie=2 so the phrase for rsa is to long. i think its so? i try to locate the a_mbstring.c file to change that value and recompile it but i cant find it. for me ununderstandable why i have never trouble with this on x86 architcture and only on ppc g3. this problem occurse also with sessionhandling in php. i have search a long time for any reason.

so i am very thankfull if anyone have an idea
