Hi folks!

I would like to install the Sabayon bootsplash theme, this black "open your mind" theme, as it would fit perfectly into my black kde theme. Is there any package/ooverlay where I can find it?
Thanks ;)

The Sabayon Git repository has all the distribution's artwork from releases 3.5 to date, so I think you should find what you want in there: https://git.sabayon.org/artwork.git/tree/

There are artwork ebuilds in the sabayon-distro overlay: https://git.sabayon.org/overlays/sabayon.git/tree/x11-themes but be careful with the grub artwork ebuild, as Sabayon uses the directory /boot/grub/ for GRUB 2 instead of /boot/grub2/.

EDIT: Apologies, I should have written 'sabayon-distro overlay', not 'sabayon overlay' (they are two different things: Sabayon Linux developers split the Portage sabayon overlay into two new overlays).

Hardly 'the master'! I'm just a moderator in the Sabayon forums and long-time user of Sabayon (amongst others), not a developer or anything like that.

You're welcome, but, as I wrote, I'm just a moderator in the forums.

The bootsplash (fbcondecor) theme is installed by the sabayon-artwork-core ebuild (see Git link to Sabayon's x11-themes in my earlier post). If you look in the sabayon-artwork-core ebuilds, you'll see the URI for the source tarball. Look through the ebuild and you'll see what it does, which you'll have to adapt for Gentoo (rebuild your initramfs and so on). Let us know how you get on.

Well, it all went pretty good. The artwork I was looking for was in x11-themes/sabayon-artwork-core-8-r2.
I was following this guide: http://en.gentoo-wiki.com/wiki/Fbsplash
I now have a nice looking theme. Only problems so far: I am still using grub-legacy and can't set much more resolutions than 1024x768 or 1280x1024. My native resolution of 1440x900 doesn't seem to be supported and the grub vga information given at boot if I select the wrong resolution are also not of any help :(
Is there something specific in the kernel I have to activate to make tis mode or a close one working?
Also, if I boot up with the fbsplash, it drops me off at tty1, I have to manually switch to tty7 for KDE... Any ideas?

Hm, it does not switch from tty1 to tty7 with KDE if I use the "silent" option. If it's set to "verbose, everything works fine...
